Beginning his career at a local community bank, Sam Edwards’ career in banking quickly developed. He began on the teller line while working during his summer and winter breaks away from college. Once graduating with his degree in Finance, he transitioned into a management-trainee role, where he learned the ins and outs of the different departments throughout the bank.
Shortly after his management program ended, Sam progressed into a Credit Analyst role. There he began learning how to mitigate risk for the bank through underwriting. After some time of growing his credit-risk background and learning how to underwrite more complicated deals, Sam shifted into a portfolio management role for the bank. There he learned how to structure loan deals, speak with clients, and was able to maintain and grow a profitable loan portfolio for the bank. During Sam’s time as a portfolio manager, he played a large role in the production and processing of PPP loans throughout the pandemic. Most recently he has spent time as a commercial lender, primarily dealing with single-family real estate, multi-family real estate, equipment deals & small business growth.
Sam received his business degree with a concentration in Finance from Liberty University. He brings with him several years of banking experience, with expertise in underwriting, commercial lending, risk-mitigation and client acquisition. In his free time, Sam enjoys traveling, snowboarding & spending time with his wife, Kylie.
